Mrs. Eleje, the Executive Director of the Priscilla Ekwueme Eleje Empowerment Initiative (PEEEI), conducted two insightful sessions at Anglican Girls Grammar School for the teachers and the students to commemorate this year’s World Mental Health Day. With 50 teachers and 400 students in attendance in their different sessions, she provided comprehensive discussions on the concept of mental health, including its disorders, causes, types, and symptoms, while also addressing common misconceptions. Emphasizing the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, she cautioned students against substance abuse.
Additionally, Mrs. Eleje extended her guidance to the school’s teachers, urging them to cultivate active listening skills to better support students in need. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing their own mental well-being to ensure their capacity to aid students effectively. She encouraged teachers to refer students to mental health professionals when necessary.
Both sessions concluded with interactive question-and-answer segments, fostering a deeper understanding of mental health and equipping both students and teachers with the necessary tools to promote emotional well-being within the school community.
