Prioritizing Mental Health at Work: PEEEI Marks World Mental Health DAY

World Mental Health Day, observed each year on October 10, aims to increase global awareness of mental health challenges and encourage efforts to support mental well-being. This year’s theme is “Prioritizing Mental Health in the Workplace.” At PEEEI, our mission is not just limited to providing financial and educational assistance to individual, we also provide psychosocial support as improving mental health is a core component of our psychosocial engagements with individuals and the community.

To commemorate World Mental Health Day, PEEEI hosted an impactful webinar Which brought together professionals from various sectors for an engaging session led Dr. Alex Agara, a clinical psychologist. The session addressed essential strategies for managing mental health challenges at work, fostering a supportive environment, and practical approaches for building resilience. With insights tailored to the realities of today’s workforce, the webinar provided participants with valuable tools to navigate and prioritize mental well-being in their professional lives.

Dr. Alex pointed out recurring stress, burnout, fatigue, sleeping and eating disorder as pointers to mental health challenge and encourage employers and employee to look out for this signs and give it maximum attention. He buttressed further that every organization should have a mental health first aid box which must contain the following:
1. Active listening.
2. Patience
3. Empathy.
The webinar reached 39 people.
