At Priscilla Ekwueme Eleje Empowerment Initiatives (PEEEI), we believe that every table deserves a seat for hope. This festive season, we took that mission to the heart of the Angwan-Bako Community in Kabusa, Abuja, through our flagship project: “Christmas Hope on Every Table.”
While the holidays are often associated with abundance, many families in underserved communities struggle to afford the basic necessities. Our goal was simple yet profound: to ensure that 100 widows and underserved families did not have to worry about their next meal during the yuletide.

A Community Welcome
We were deeply honored by the warm reception from the Angwan-Bako community leadership. The event was bolstered by the presence of our distinguished Board Director, Engr. B.O. Oduniyi, and the President of ISACA, Mr. Emmanuel Omoke, whose active support helped turn this vision into a reality.
Nourishing the Mind: A Session on Self-Care
True empowerment is holistic. Beyond the food baskets, our Executive Director and professional Psychologist, Mrs. Priscilla Ekwueme Eleje, led a vital mental health session. She reminded the women present that “self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity.”
In a moving heart-to-heart, the women were encouraged to:
- Prioritize Rest: Recognizing the signs of burnout and knowing when to take a break.
- Speak Up: Finding trusted individuals to talk to when life feels overwhelming.
- Build Skills: Embracing income-generating vocations to foster long-term financial independence.
Planting Seeds for a Balanced Future
PEEEI is committed to breaking generational cycles. During the program, we advocated for social equity within the home, urging parents to invest equally in their female children and to involve their sons in domestic responsibilities. By redefining these roles today, we are building a more equitable tomorrow.

Impact at a Glance
- 100+ Families Fed: Widows and underserved households went home with staple foods, ensuring a joyful Christmas.
- Psychosocial Support: Over 100 women received professional mental health guidance.
- Community Gratitude: The Community Head noted that PEEEI’s intervention provided relief to families who otherwise would have gone without food during the holidays.
Bringing Hope Home
The smiles on the faces of the participants were the ultimate evidence that hope had truly been brought to the table. As we look forward to the new year, we remain dedicated to our drive to see every woman and child thrive.
